Ep. 35: Tap Out of It!
Thursday Oct 13, 2022
Thursday Oct 13, 2022
Lace up your tap shoes and get those jazz hands ready, because this week we’re clickity-clacking our way into tapping, a.k.a. emotional freedom technique (EFT), a form of somatic therapy that’s worlds different from tap dancing so I’m not really sure why you wore your tap shoes, frankly it feels a little inappropriate.
In Hobby Collectors Grace covers what tapping is, why it’s so beneficial for ADHDers, and how to use it during those times when you’re aimlessly wandering about the house like an anxious ghoul woman of the night. Plus, Kristin goes full jart, learns the basics of the basics of driving, and we both suffer embarrassingly mundane injuries, not to mention a serious case of Abbaritus.
This segs-only episode may be a bit of a sloppy cheeseburger, but like the late great Elvis once said, “I like mine with lettuce and tomato, Heinz 57 and french fried potatoes,” and we couldn’t agree more.

Bagel Bite #10: A Light but Longing Hand on the Shoulder
Thursday Oct 06, 2022
Thursday Oct 06, 2022
We’re finally back from our unscheduled staycation and we’re ready to hit the sand punching. In response to your response to our Stimisode, we are now responding with a whole bunch of your quirky listener stims and sensitivities. This tasty little Bagel Bite is stuffed to the brim with rants about overhead lighting, advice on how to be a responsible knuckle-cracker, 5 straight hours of us rounding up the Riverdale Round-Up, and many inappropriate interjects along the way.
What we lack in podcasting talent, we more than make up for in untamed candlepower, so come finger-gun your way into this stimception Bagel Bite, where we promise to leave you satisfied, but not too satisfied.

Enyepisode 34: Well, You Should’ve Swallowed: An Episode on Camping
Thursday Sep 22, 2022
Thursday Sep 22, 2022
Open up your ears and your hearts, close your mouths, and shut your butts, because we’re coming to you live from two weird cots in the middle of a scorpionful desert and this just may be our final broadcast. Could this time be better spent trying to escape from said desert? You betcha, but the world needs to hear our story, no matter the cost.
This episode, we’re teaching you how to pop your tarps on and hit the woods for some good old-fashioned camping, if old-fashioned camping involved air mattresses and a coffee press. Then, we get raw and unfiltered as we guess ADHD Celebrity Blind Items and tell a juicy plum-and-spoon-based Pizza Secret from one of our most loyal and most Australian listeners.
This conversation may be jam-packed with ridiculous tangents and way too many questions about plums and spoons, but much like a Swedish Fish, it’ll slide right down your gullet, which is a feeling we all enjoy.

Ep. 33: Self-Stimulatory Behaviors
Thursday Sep 15, 2022
Thursday Sep 15, 2022
Start trilling those lips and happy-patting those thighs, because this episode we’re letting our stimming freak flags fly and we can’t be the only ones making a ruckus in the hallway.
In what will surely need a follow-up episode, this ADHD learning corner we’re laying the groundwork on hyper/hyposensitivities and stimming, a.k.a self-stimulatory behaviors–and no, we don’t mean masturbating (you wish). Kristin gets them itchy legs and reveals the PEMDAS of her Perfect Hug (PH), Grace loses her Potter’s Poddies privileges and enjoys the process of a burp, and we both ask the important questions, such as, “do friends hug?” and, “how’s your relationship holding up to the corn song?”
We’ll eventually do a part 2 that will include a more thorough breakdown of autistic vs. ADHD stims, sensory-seeking vs. sensory-avoiding behaviors, and other things we forgot. But until then, drape yourself in velvet and fidget your way through part 1 of this chaotic stimisode.

Bagel Bite #9: A Solo Smorg(asbord)
Thursday Sep 08, 2022
Thursday Sep 08, 2022
In this solo episode Grace talks to herself in a room about medication changes, elegant piss fountains, and reads some listener corrections and write-ins, including a dog-and-arm-based Squirrel Trauma story–remember that segment? This episode may not be the most cohesive, but YOU TRY DOING A PODCAST.
We’ll both be back next week with a regular long-ass episode about sensory needs, but until then, enjoy these ravings of a madwoman in this tasty little smorg(asbord) hodgepodge platypus of a Bagel Bite that’s really just one long sidebar.

Ep. 32: IRL Games for Indoor Boys
Thursday Sep 01, 2022
Thursday Sep 01, 2022
There’s finally a hint of autumn crispness in the air and the flannels are emerging from their cedar chests, which means a) Halloween is basically uponst us, b) the kids are heading back to school, and c) everyone’s uncle is excited about game season.
But while the jocks are rushing outside to their sports balls, the indoor boys are holding tight to their 20-sided dice and doing what they do best: staying indoors. This Hobby Collectors we’re giving a breakdown on why IRL indoor games are good, sharing our personal favorite and most despised IRL games both board and boardless, and helping you find the perfect game for a fun night of recreational arguing with the whole family.
Then, Kristin dickers down and says yes to cookies of all kinds, Grace tramps in the yard and has a stinky attitude about team sports, and we both reach deep into the shame bucket to reveal some controversial Pizza Secrets that you may judge us for, but we don’t give a shit.

Ep. 31: Occasional Losh
Thursday Aug 25, 2022
Thursday Aug 25, 2022
Lace up your sneakers and zip into those swuits, because this episode we’re collectively starting a whole new routine and it’s officially time to get out there and pound that sound.
In ADHD learning corner we’re tramping our way into the wobbly world of ADHD routines; we’re discussing why they’re so hard for us to set and keep, why morning and nighttime routines are particularly difficult to stick to, and how you can slowly start building up neurodivergent-friendly routines that will still leave you the wiggle room to be your consistently inconsistent self.
Starting a new routine is hard, but you have to be the Jart you want to see in the world, as they say. So, if you’re tired of flying by the seat of your pants and approaching every single meal with a “who could have possibly foreseen this?” attitude, it’s time to come join us in setting small, reasonable goals for ourselves that, over many moons, may one day grow into a healthy human adult routine.

Bagel Bite #8: Tension in the Grass
Thursday Aug 18, 2022
Thursday Aug 18, 2022
Here at WOAF, we try to remain humble as our podcast shoots into the stratosphere of popularity, but you can only stay so humble when you’ve reached the top–and by top, we mean the #19 spot for mental health podcasts in New Zealand. Sure, other mental health podcasts give expert advice and helpful strategies, but what we lack in factual knowledge we more than make up for in camaraderie, which is just as valuable as skills and resources and we know you all agree so there’s no need to even ask.
Other fans tell us, “nothing like this has ever been done before,” and for a good reason. We’ll show you some of those reasons in this scrumptious little bagel bite, which is stuffed to the brim with nothing and everything at the same time, but mostly nothing. Grace issues a public apology for white woman kaf-commandeering the kaftan, Kristin receives her semi-annual compliment, and we both have a bone to pick with the 3 remaining U.S. states that continue to deny our greatness.

Ep. 30ish: My Lil’ Nonverbal Learning Disorder
Thursday Aug 11, 2022
Thursday Aug 11, 2022
Everyone close your eyes, take a deep breath, and visualize your happy place. Oh what’s that, you can’t actually visualize and now you’re upset? Well, if you also related to Grace’s hair-curling struggles you may want to take a seat, because as it turns out, these quirky characteristics just may be indicators of a nonverbal learning disorder.
This episode Grace is laying down the soft warm facts on this often-overlooked learning disability and sharing some of the controversial ways it manifests in her own life, such as the Boston bump and her inability to do word problems, a.k.a. –we all know this– horse train meet cute math. Always the sensible one, Kristin keeps the mood light with a lively discussion on post-mortem carcass care and reveals her definitely-not-spite-based plans to become a fruit tree with an exclusive guest list.
Come for the soft warm facts, stay for the diaper arguments, only in this monumental 30th(ish) carcass apple of an episode.

Ep. 29: Jagged Little Jart
Thursday Aug 04, 2022
Thursday Aug 04, 2022
Ahh, rollerblading: is there anything cooler? Yes, obviously, many things are cooler, but coolness isn’t what we’re about here at WOAF. This week we’re debuting a fan-composed Hobby Collectors theme song that blows our stupid fucking song out of the water and teaching you how to get started with rollerblading and longboarding. We’ll cover what gear you need, how to stay safe, and the importance of knowing when to bail out.
Then, we’re ranting our way through Things That Make Us Irrationally Angry (while potentially alienating all our new international listeners along the way, but that’s showbiz baby) and confessing some silly Quirks and Pizza Secrets that just may be the result of our undiagnosed learning disorders. And isn’t that just fun?
Just like rollerblading, this conversation contains a little bit of danger, so drop Lino and Arvo off at their tap lesson, strap on those elbow pads, and roll your way into this sweaty little episode, ya jarts.
