Bagel Bite #5: Transitioning Into the Wet
Thursday May 05, 2022
Thursday May 05, 2022
It feels a little silly to be releasing an episode as society collapses around us, but the show must go on, as they say. Sometimes our brains need a silly little break and our souls need a bit of a giggle, and that’s where we come in.
In a Bagel Bite so cheesy it’ll have you going, “mmm whatcha say,” we’re talking all about transitions–what they are, why they’re so difficult for neurodivergents, and what we can attempt to do about it. We’ll bravely lead you into the wet with our best transition tips, some teeny tiny starter tasks, and significantly more Jason Derulo than you ever could’ve imagined.

Ep. 21: Teatime with Tofu
Thursday Apr 28, 2022
Thursday Apr 28, 2022
They say great things are worth waiting for, and boy does this episode deliver. This week we’re welcoming Pun Master, WOAF artist-in-residence, former Hot Topic employee, and Kristin’s extremely serious boyfriend, Christopher, a.k.a. Tofu, into the Pod Loft.
With a voice for radio and eyebrows for Hollywood, Christopher takes us through his winding ADHD journey from bouncing baby boy to bouncing baby man. Did we have to cut his Hobby Collectors and save it for another day? You betcha. But no matter, because we still manage to cram in so many topics, it’ll make your head spin. We’re covering everything from copious career changes to color blindness to dogs named Rebecca.
Whether you’re an eyebrow fanatic or a casual Creedhead, we’ve got a little bit of everything for you this episode, so pop your tarps off and jump on in!

Bagel Bite #4: Comorbidities, Do You Have ’em?!
Thursday Apr 14, 2022
Thursday Apr 14, 2022
Open those mouths and grab a pen because we’ve got an information-packed Bagel Bite for you that should more than make up for our recent horse train antics. Kristin is starting us off with some wonderful words from a WOAF listener who reminded us of why we started this podcast and gave Kristin her first taste of that sweet, sweet podcaster celebrity status.
Then we’re putting the ADHD back in ADHD-adjacent as we delve into the world of comorbidities, from dyslexia to Ehlers-Danlos to ghosts in the blood. Just kidding on that last one, but the rest are DEAD SERIOUS. We’re also covering auditory processing disorder, PMDD, vertical heterophoria, Irlen syndrome, and the ol’ classics anxiety and depression. Who knew comorbidities could be so fun!

Ep. 20: Horse Train Meet Cute
Thursday Apr 07, 2022
Thursday Apr 07, 2022
Fasten your Liberty Tool hardhat thinking helmets and enter at your own risk, because we’re uninsured but also because Science Kristin is here to RAIN KNOWLEDGE DOWN UPON YOU. She’s bringing yet more heat into ADHD learning corner as she dives into the pre-frontal cortex and how our “fickle attention” leads to the ‘If You Give a Moose a Muffin’ effect, a newly-coined concept we know many ADHDers will relate to when it comes to cleaning the house.
Then we’re two Productive Marys as we share our super-normal quirks, almost make a new Hobby Collectors song, dish out ill-advised interview tips, and somehow still find the time to pitch a few sitcom concepts and lay the groundwork for a steamy romance novel rife with forbidden love and complicated coitus.

Plantpisode 19: Planting Positivity with Karen
Thursday Mar 31, 2022
Thursday Mar 31, 2022
Strap on your sunhats and sharpen your trowels because we’re welcoming plant whisperer and suspected ADHDer Karen into the Pod Loft for another guest episode.
Karen starts us off with her inspiring ADHD journey in a glorious display of non-linear thinking and shares some tips for creating a positive routine while embracing your consistent inconsistency. Then, it’s time for those classic segments, where Karen divulges her quirkiest quirks and a hilariously upsetting river-based Pizza Secret.
In Hobby Collectors, Karen and Kristin are getting knucks deep into the ins and outs of indoor plant care while notorious plant murderer Grace stays mostly silent where she belongs. They’ll be answering all of your plant-related questions, such as, “What plants are good for ADHDers?” and “How often should I be watering them?” Plus, we’re finally addressing the not-so-hotly debated question that's on everyone’s minds: “Is it okay to put plants up your butt?” The answer just may surprise you.

Bagel Bite #3: We’re Going Meta(cognition)
Thursday Mar 24, 2022
Thursday Mar 24, 2022
Grab your free audience member tickets, put on some light neutral clothing, wait patiently for the announcer to call the selected contestants, and then COME ON DOWNNNN for an exciting hour of fantastic prizes* for your earholes in the form of a brand new Bagel Bite. And yes, I researched how to become a contestant on the Price is Right for these show notes, what of it.
In this episode that’s chaotic even by ADHD standards, we’re going over the rules of our upcoming April Anarchy Buttiest Band Bracket (now the official ADHDer’s March Madness) and sharing our little ‘Plishes before getting to our main topic, if you can call it that: metacognition, a.k.a. thinking about thinking. Kristin packs the heat as we discuss inner worlds, argue about how neurotypicals experience music, and to keep it light and breezy, pepper in plenty of outdated references and throwback songs that we definitely know all the words to.
*fantastic prizes is subjective, actual prize value may vary

Thursday Mar 17, 2022
Grab your ice-cold Fruittopia cans and slide on your toe rings, because we’re coming to you from outside the locked gates of Funtown with an accidental 90s/early 2000s throwback episode just in time for March.
We’re paying terrible tribute to the butt rock and pop bands of our teenage liquid dreams, dishing out risky ADHD hacks that just may be worth it, and verbally showering you in a harsh mist of our everyday object-based perfume line ideas. Plus, we’re finally dropping in the Hobby Collectors you've all been waiting for: The ADHD Guide to Indoor Rock Climbing, and no, this isn’t another false alarm….but maybe. Just kidding, it’s not.
A special thank you to our sound editing apprentice Christopher/Tofu for his help on this episode, let it be known that all sound-related complaints can now be addressed to him from this day forth.

Ep. 17: A Friendly Kick in the Shins with Elena
Thursday Mar 10, 2022
Thursday Mar 10, 2022
Strap on your shin guards and hide your My Little Ponies, because we’re welcoming our second guest into the Pod Loft! This episode our child/adulthood friend Elena uses an appropriate amount of jazz to tell us about her ADHD diagnosis journey and the co-morbidities that came with it, the challenges of being a Speech-Language Pathologist when you have ADHD (or even if you don’t), and her most helpful tips for managing ADHD without meds.
In the second half, it’s nothing but giggles as we trade traumatic Pizza Secrets about each other, harmonize to Raffi songs (remember Raffi?), and bring back the classic segment: How Did No One Catch This? Finally, Elena teaches us about the art of crocheting (a.k.a. the Ms. Getchell’s class of knitting) and absolutely obliterates us with her professionally trained bird cries–we may never recover from this.

Bagel Bite #2: A Little Pocket of Community
Thursday Mar 03, 2022
Thursday Mar 03, 2022
Fasten your adult bibs and get your mouths ready because this is a Bagel Bite! And much like a Bagel Bite, what this episode lacks in stature, it more than makes up for in smiles. We’re chatting ADHD money shame, plant mistakes, and neglected Home Ec. babies, paying ode to some of our quirkiest flock members, and gossiping about the upcoming WOAF guest lineup.
Plus, calling all plant questions! In a few weeks, we’ll be joined by a mystery guest for a springtime Plantpisode, where we’ll be answering your repotting questions and dishing out amateur plant advice just in time for the spring bloom.

Ep. 16: Bowling For Dopamine
Thursday Feb 24, 2022
Thursday Feb 24, 2022
Grab your fidget toys and LISTEN UP because class is in session and Professor Kristin isn’t messing around, except for when she is. This episode we’re hippo-dipping our toes into the neurobiology of ADHD and looking at some of the research behind why we struggle with dopamine, with the help of some silly analogies to keep it entertaining.
Grace has difficulty remembering basic words, but more than makes up for it with a surplus of songs, a mood I think we can all enjoy. Plus, we’re sharing our Dream Hobbies, Weird Algorithms, recommendations for the best restaurants to shout at your dad, and so much more.
